Nova

A short note to show you my latest creation called Nova.
Nova is 8.7 inches/ 22 cm tail. She is OOAK and completely handsewn. She is made of a high quality mohair. She is filled with plastic pellets and synthetic wool and her arms are wired.
The stars are made of polymer clay and glow in the dark.
(Personally I love the glow in the dark picture. :) )
I am already drawing a new pattern for my next creation.
Always thinking about new ideas. Lack of sleep, headache and a little stressy do not affect my spirit of creativity.
I could say my creativity and thinking about new ideas are the cause for my lack of sleep, hehe.

This Saturday I will find out if my creations are still in the URSA Award competition. Fingers crossed!

Enough for now, enjoy the pics!
Hugs, Mel

After a difficult delivery 'Zuri' is finally born!

I have finally booked my trip to the UK today!!!
I'll be exhibiting at the TEDDIES 2012 on the 9th of September and I am looking forward to it!
Like to know more about it? See this link: http://www.hugglets.co.uk/festivalindex.php

Voting for the first rounds of the URSA Awards has ended on the 29th of July. Fingers crossed I will appear in the final rounds. I hope so. It depents on how many votes I got for Biscuit, Patrick & Rudi and Howie.
If  I will appear in the final rounds, will you vote for me again? :)

And last but not least:

Well... today I finally finished my latest creations. I must say she was a pain in the ***!
Her legs were horrible, did not want to cooperate at all!! And then I forgot about the hair in the neck... Being a perfectionist, I could not leave that out... but: she is finally born!
I love her eye lashes, they are so soft :)

Zuri is a OOAK giraffe baby made of a soft giraffeprint-fabric. She is 14 inches / 36 cm tall. She is wired and filled with synthetic wool and plastic pallets. She was not easy to work on because her legs did not want to cooperate. It took me at least two more days to finish her.

Hope you like her!

Hugs, Melanie

Meet Jobo my new 4" - 10 cm tall mini bear!

First of all bad news:  The TBAAF Awards might be cancelled for this year. :( The voting form providers site from TBAAF who we use to host the awards has been badly hacked and taken down, and have just discovered all the TBAAF Awards voting pages and information has been completely lost... Nooooo! I hope they can fix it!

Good new: I have just made my first mini bear. :)
This mini bear is a little less than 4 inches - 10 cm tall. He is filled with plastic pellets and polyester filling. He has a needle felted face and paws and his nails, teeth, tongue and honey pot are made of polymer clay. He is actually my first try of mini bear with that kind of details in needle felting. I did not realize it would be that much work... It's even more work. :) But since I am a great fan of details and time-taking, undoable projects it was just my thing! :D

I hope you like him.

Oh, please don't forget to vote for the URSA Awards!

Hugs,  Mel

Emiel is filled with synthetic wool and plastic pallets.
His teeth and hooves are made of polymer clay and he has a needle felted face.

Biscuit and marmalade

Hi everybody,

I would like to show you my latest creation, called 'Biscuit'.
Biscuit is completely hand sewn. He is approximately 6 inches - 15 cm tall and made of a yellow, high quality mohair. He is filled with plastic pellets and a polyester filling.
His body and arms are partly wired so they can bend. His face, nose and paw pads are needle felted and he has a hand sculpted mouth and nails. In front of him is a glass of mixed berry marmalade.
The marmalade is made of polymer clay and liquid Fimo. He has also some marmalade on his face and paw. Biscuit loves marmalade!!!

I have made this bear to take part at the Bears&Buds URSA Awards Competition 2012.
Being too busy with my job at the moment I have hardly made the deadline of June 19. Phew.
I hope this lack of time is going to change soon because I miss creating!!!

Anyways, I hope you like my bear 'Biscuit' :D

Hugs, Mel

I have been nominated for the Versatile Blogger Award!

Never heard of it before but I was happy to read I have been nominated for the Versatile Blogger Award.

So what did I do? Or what do I have to do next?
A quick peak on their website told me this:

About the VBA
Hello Versatile Bloggers! Hello Nominators and Nominees — I decided to put this little blog together to assist those of you who’ve no idea what the Versatile Blogger award is, how you earn it, and what your responsibilities are once you have been nominated, i.e. awarded.
Feel free to copy the Versatile Blogger blog-button from this site and put it on yours, if and only if, you’ve been nominated/awarded.
Enjoy!

VBA Rules
If you are nominated, you’ve been awarded the Versatile Blogger award.

  • Thank the person who gave you this award. That’s common courtesy.

So: Thank you  Mythillogical!

  • Include a link to their blog. That’s also common courtesy — if you can figure out how to do it.

http://mythillogical.blogspot.nl/
  •  Next, select 15 blogs/bloggers that you’ve recently discovered or follow regularly. ( I would add, pick blogs or bloggers that are excellent!)

( I can't help that all the links end on 'nl' . I hope it still works for you. )
  •  Nominate those 15 bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award — you might include a link to this site.

  •  Finally, tell the person who nominated you 7 things about yourself.

Gonna do that next!

So I hope I did everything right...

Thank you!
Love,  Mel
